Pain at posteromedial aspect of left ankle

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Left ankle

This sclerotic line is seen perpendicular to the medial border of the lower tibial shaft.


Both ankle joints

Extensive marrow edema is noted at the distal left tibia associated with related linear hypointense line at the medial aspect of distal tibial shaft at the supra malleolar region, reflecting stress fracture.

Moderate related soft tissue edema notably along the posterior and medial aspects of the left ankle region.

Case Discussion

Feature line matching with stress fracture at medial aspect of distal left tibial shaft, involving the supra malleolar region with surrounding marrow edema.
