Case contributed by Dr Henry Knipe

Left testicular pain for four days.

Patient Data

Age: 30
Gender: Male

Right testes has normal echotexture. Left testes has a striated appearance.

Symmetrical, normal vascularity.

Case Discussion

Striated appearance of the left testes was new from prior examination in 2011. The patient was reviewed by the urology unit, who felt that infection was the most likely cause.

Enterococcus faecalis was cultured from a urine sample.

Striated appearance to the testes is non-specific and can represent:

  • fibrosis (in elderly population)
  • infection
  • malignancy
