Sturge-Weber syndrome

Case contributed by A.Prof Frank Gaillard
CT

CT scan of an 11 year old's brain demonstrates gyriform clacification of the parietal lobe on the left. An additional ill defined density in the anterior pole of the left frontal lobe in the subcortical white matter represents a similar process.

MRI

3 years later

MRI of the same patient three years later demonstrates slight hemiatrophy of the left cerebral hemisphere (look at the size of the sulci posteriorly), and vivid surface enhancement on post contrast T1 images.

Case Discussion

CT was obtained at the age of 11 years.

MRI at the age of 14 years.

Appearances are characteristic of Sturge Weber syndrome
