Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Elongated left styloid process and calcification of the stylohyoid ligament

The right styloid process (not seen here) was also elongated to a lesser extent. 

Case Discussion

Eagle syndrome refers to an association of various symptoms in the context of an elongated styloid process and/or calcified stylohyoid ligament:

  • throat pain or foreign body sensation
  • dysphagia
  • facial pain
