Developmental regression, spasticity

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Female

Gross cerebral atrophy with diffuse paucity of bilateral cerebral white matter is seen causing gross prominence of convexity sulci, sylvian fissures, bilateral lateral and third ventricles.

Diffuse T2/FLAIR hyperintensity is seen in bilateral cerebral white matter.

Diffuse thinning of corpus callosum is seen with partial atrophy of both cerebral peduncles.

Mild atrophy of cerebral is also seen with prominence of fourth ventricle and cerebellar folia.

Case Discussion

The patient is known case of measles.

EEG showed generalized large amplitude slow waves which are suggestive of subacute sclerosing panencephalitis.

In the background of clinical history, imaging findings are suggestive of sequelae of subacute sclerosing panencephalitis
