Subcapital neck of femur fracture

Case contributed by Gerry Gardner
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Patient presented with severe pain in the left hip following a fall onto concrete from 1.5 meters.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Impacted subcapital fracture of the left neck of femur is demonstrated.

Case Discussion

The fracture was not noted at the time of imaging and a turned lateral was done. The doctor did not note the fracture but waited on the report. The report mentioned a lucency on the turned lateral and suggested a CT to clarify/rule out fracture. The CT was booked for another 2 days. The fracture was noted and patient recalled and sent to hospital 4 days after the initial presentation and 2 days before CT booked. Presumably had cannulated screws.
