Subdural hematoma

Presentation

Patient came to emergency room with severe headaches and disorientation. No history of trauma

Gender: Female

CT Brain

ct

CT scan demonstrates that there is a large hyperdense right parietal subdural hematoma.  There is associated mass effect that induces midline shift with effacement of the right lateral ventricle

Case Discussion

subdural hematoma ia a collection of blood between the dura and arachnoid . In general it is secondary to rupture of cortical veins.

The subdural hematoma is one of the most fatal injuries of the head and has a high mortality (50-85%)
