Subdural haemorrhage - chronic

Case contributed by A.Prof Frank Gaillard

Elderly patient with recent decline in memory.

Patient Data

Age: Elderly

CT scan (non-contrast) demonstrates a right-sided chronic subdural haemorrhage (SDH) resulting in midline shift. Note that the collection is slightly hyperdense compared to CSF. A small amount of hyperdense material (blood presumably) is seen layering dependently.

Case Discussion

The main differential, in this case, is that of a subdural hygroma. Slight hyperdensity favours a chronic subdural haematoma
