Subdural hemorrhage - chronic

Case contributed by Frank Gaillard
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Elderly patient with recent decline in memory.

Patient Data

Age: Elderly

Note: This case has been tagged as "legacy" as it no longer meets image preparation and/or other case publication guidelines.

CT scan (non-contrast) demonstrates a right-sided chronic subdural hemorrhage (SDH) resulting in midline shift. Note that the collection is slightly hyperdense compared to CSF. A small amount of hyperdense material (blood presumably) is seen layering dependently.

Case Discussion

The main differential, in this case, is that of a subdural hygroma. Slight hyperdensity favors a chronic subdural hematoma
