Atypical position of a gas-filled (non-obstructed) retro-cecal appendix near the lower margin of the right hepatic lobe inferior segment.
Case Discussion
A sub-hepatically located appendix and cecum is a rare anatomical variant that occurs as a result of incomplete fetal gut rotation with fixation. Associated with the subhepatic cecum and appendix in this patient was a short ascending colon.
