Lateral radiograph of the neck shows a radio-opaque calcular shadow below the mandible. Increased density and shadow size of the submandibular gland mottled with lucencies suggestive of sialadenitis or ductal obstruction.
Case Discussion
Features are characteristic of submandibular sialolithiasis with possible associated ductal obstruction or sialadenitis. X-ray for sialolithiasis is much replaced nowadays with ultrasound and CT.
