Presentation
Pervaginal uterine bleeding
Patient Data
A submucosal isoechoic myometrial lesion is seen averaging 2.3 x 2.2 x 3.4 cm in dimensions, deforming the endometrial cavity on 3D view. It shows irregular random internal vascularity.
Case Discussion
Features are in favor of a submucosal uterine fibroid. It differs from endometrial polyp in the pattern of vascularity, the latter shows pedicle artery sign. Transvaginal ultrasound is the most commonly used investigation for women with pervaginal bleeding, with the 3D setting integrated into most new machines. 3D view accentuates the endometrial-myometrial interface and provides a coronal view of the endometrium.
