There is a well-defined submucosal mass arising from the left posterolateral aspect of the uterine fundus, and distorting the endometrial cavity. It shows an intermediate signal intensity on T1WI, low signal intensity on T2WI with areas of cystic degeneration, and has a broad interface with the adjacent endometrium. The postcontrast sequences show a moderate, and heterogeneous enhancement. Note mild bleeding within the uterine cavity of low signal on T2WI.

Both ovaries show normal appearance with small follicles.

Case Discussion

MRI features of a submucosal uterine leiomyoma. The differential diagnosis should include endometrial polyps.
