Subscapularis tendon tear

Presentation

History of fall on the ground with right shoulder trauma one day ago. Loss of right shoulder movements. The plain radiograph of the shoulder was normal.

Patient Data

Age: 13 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

There is a full-thickness fluid cleft replacing the tendinous part of the subscapularis.

Biceps long head tendon is normal in position and echo pattern. Supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons are normal. There is no effusion of the subacromial-subdeltoid bursa or the glenohumeral joint. There is no fracture of the lesser tuberosity or the greater tuberosity of the humerus head.

Case Discussion

Findings of a post-traumatic subscapularis tendon tear in a boy of 13 years. MRI was later done which showed similar findings. Arthroscopic cuff repair was done. Post repair 6 weeks check ultrasound revealed expected findings. Subsequent clinical follow-ups were satisfactory.
