Subseptate uterus

Case contributed by Ceyhun Hacı
Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Infertility.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female
Fluoroscopy

The uterine cavity has septal appearance and the contrast is bilateral spilled into peritoneal space. Between the angle of uterine horns is 50°.

Case Discussion

Accuracy of hysterosalpingogram alone is only 55% for differentiation of septate uterus from the bicornuate uterus. An angle of less than 75° between the uterine horns is suggestive of a septate uterus, and an angle of more than 105° is more consistent with bicornuate uteri.

3D ultrasound of the uterus and MRI are more specific for the diagnosis.
