Presentation
Progressive midline swelling of the neck
Patient Data
There is a large upper mediastinal mass of left paratracheal location with an undiscernible border above the clavicle indicating its cervicothoracic location (cervicothoracic sign). A mass effect is noted with tracheal shift to the right.
The CT images demonstrate an enlarged heterogeneously enhancing left thyroid lobe with intrathoacic extension, displacing the adjacent mediastinal vascular structures with tracheal shift to the right.
Case Discussion
Case illustrating the characteristic appearance of a large goiter with an intrathoracic extension (substernal goiter).
