Superficial orbital dermoid cyst
Presentation
Left orbital swelling.
From the case:
Superficial orbital dermoid cyst
CT
Axial non-contrast
Well-defined cystic density (-6 to 0 HU) lesion seen in the inner canthus of the left eye. It measures 12 x 12 mm in size.
Case Discussion
The lesion is in the typical location at the medial angle of the orbit for a orbital dermoid cyst. The lacrimal sac and underlying bones are normal.
Differential diagnosis:
- encephalocele: no herniation of intracranial content; no bone defect
- congenital lacrimal gland cyst: normal lacrimal gland seen, which is identified by presence of air locules
