known patient with protein C deficiency presented with tenderness and erythema in the thigh.

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

The great saphenous vein is dilated, non-compressible and shows internal hyperechoic content, with no internal flow compatible with superficial thrombophlebitis.

Protein C deficiency markedly increases the risk of thrombotic events.
