Presentation

Past history of pulmonary embolism. Palpable tender strand and skin discoloration at the dorsal aspect of the distal thigh.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Incompressible, varicose, epifascial vein with internal echoes draining in to a medial posterior side branch of the great saphenous vein.

Deep venous thrombosis was excluded (not shown).
