Dilated stomach and proximal duodenum with a collapsed distal duodenum and small bowel is concerning for SMA syndrome. The point of transition is at the SMA and a narrow angle between the SMA and aorta is compatible with the syndrome.

In a thin built, young male, SMA syndrome makes an important reason for upper GI obstruction.
