Supine pneumothorax (deep sulcus sign)

Post cardiac surgery in ICU.

Patient Data

Age: 70
Gender: Male

Intubated supine patient with left sided deep sulcus sign (pronounced lucency extending inferiorly within the left costophrenic recess) indicating a sizeable pneumothorax. The left pleural edge is visible approximately 1cm in from the inner aspect of the left lateral ribs.
