Presentation
Injury; shoulder scapula and upper arm pain; elbow to wrist, pain
Patient Data
Acute, complete, oblique fracture through the lateral supracondylar region demonstrates significant separation and displacement of the distal and lateral supracondylar fragment.
The radiocapitellar alignment appears normal.
There is dorsal dislocation of the ulna at the ulnohumeral articulation best evident on the lateral view of the elbow exam.
Multiple overlying external streaky densities obscure details.
Case Discussion
Depending on the severity, there are various treatment options for distal humerus fractures. These options include closed reduction and percutaneous pinning, open reduction and internal fixation, and intramedullary nailing 1. Specifically, 60% of elbow region fractures in children are supracondylar humerus fractures 2.
