Suprasellar arachnoid cyst

There is expansion of the suprasellar cistern by a thin-walled cyst, isointense to CSF on all sequences and there is no evidence of abnormal enhancement. It compresses the floor of the third ventricle and splays the optic radiations. The optic chiasm is displaced anteroinferiorly. The lateral ventricles are enlarged, in keeping with obstructive hydrocephalus due to third ventricular outflow obstruction. There is a cavum septum pellucidum and cavum vergae present.
Conclusion: suprasellar arachnoid cyst resulting in obstructive hydrocephalus.
Case Discussion
The patient went on to have an endoscopic third ventriculostomy and fenestration of the suprasellar arachnoid cyst.
