Supraspinatus tendon tear

Shoulder pain and restricted movement for last 6 weeks after recent sports activity (bowling at cricket match).

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

There is probably a tiny acromial spur in AP oblique (True AP) standing view of the right shoulder.


There is a full-thickness fluid defect replacing the supraspinatus tendon with a length of about 20 mm. The rest of the cuff tendons are intact.

There is no significant fatty infiltration or volume loss of supraspinatus muscle belly.

Case Discussion

The findings are consistent with a supraspinatus tendon tear.
