Presentation
After a strong shot at football, severe pain in the area of the spina iliaca anterior inferior on the right. X-ray shows a possible avulsion fracture. Fresh injury? Capsule marking of the painful area.
Patient Data
Symphysis pubis cyst (8mm), which is a very rare anatomical variant.
No signs of malignancy of the cyst. No degenerative changes of the symphysis. No secondary cleft sign or osteitis pubis.
Avulsion injury of the spina iliaca anterior inferior right, but only slight displacement distally.
Irritation/apophysitis of the spina iliaca anterior superior on the right.
Hematoma below the right iliac muscle and strain of the iliac muscle.
Case Discussion
Avulsion injury of the spina iliaca anterior inferior with an incidental finding of a symphysis pubis cyst, a very rare anatomical variant.
Only a few cases of symphysis cysts have been described in the literature. Almost all were women. Benign and malignant tumors are a rare occurrence in the symphysis.
The patient has no degenerative changes of the symphysis and has no symptoms in this area.
