Presentation

Recurrent right ankle sprains.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female

Bilateral frontal radiograph of the ankles with internal rotational stress applied to the feet demonstrating lateral talar tilt of the right ankle.

Case Discussion

A stress view is useful for determining the integrity of the syndesmotic ligaments, with obvious asymmetry seen in this case.

The patient indicated numerous inversion ankle injuries in the past 2 years playing sport, suggesting a chronic injury leading to instability.
