Synovial chondromatosis of the hip

Young male with intensive hip pain on both sides during walking and limitation movement.

Patient Data

Age: 30-40
Gender: Male

MR shows multiple intraarticular rounded T1, T2Fs hypointense osteochondral synovial nodules with mild joint effusion in the right hip.

Findings most suggestive with synovial chondromatosis.

There are also osteoarthritic changes on the bilateral hip joint, with multiple degenerative subchondral cysts and bone marrow edema at the joint surface of the bilateral femoral heads. 

Case Discussion

Synovial chondromatosis is a benign condition characterized by nodular synovial proliferation.
