Presentation

Shortness of breath.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Minor right basal atelectasis. Right lower lobe bronchial wall thickening.

Multiple variable-sized calcific densities in the periarticular region of the shoulders mainly on the left. 

Degenerative change in the glenohumeral joints.

Case Discussion

The edge of an otherwise unexciting chest radiograph shows striking secondary synovial osteochondromatosis.

Always check the film edges - somethings the most interesting pathology lurks there.
