Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

Lumbar Spine CT

ct

Subtle superior endplate compression fracture at T12 with associated widening of the T11-12 interspinous distance suggesting posterior ligamentous complex disruption.

Thoracic Spine MRI

mri

MRI confirms the T12 vertebral body fracture and also suggests microtrabecular fracture of the T11 vertebral body. There is complete rupture of the T11-12 ligamentum flavum, interspinous and supraspinous ligaments.

Case Discussion

Complete tear of the T11-12 posterior ligamentous complex in association with vertebral body fractures. The normal and torn appearances of the ligamentum flavum and supraspinous ligament are well appreciated in this patient.
