Presentation

Smoker with weight loss and cough. CT biopsy proven lung malignancy.

Patient Data

Age: 66
Gender: Male
x-ray

Spiculated 4cm left upper lobe mass.

Right lung clear.  Heart size normal.

ct

4cm left apical spiculated mass with minor tethering to the pleural surface and the oblique fissure.

No cavitation.

Right lung clear.

No significant mediastinal lymphadenopathy.

pathology

Gross specimen from left upper lobectomy.

The tumor (white) is well delineated from the surrounding normal lung.

Classical spiculated lesion, which is nearly always cancer.

Final histology:   Adenocarcinoma of the lung
