T3 prostate cancer on MRI

Case contributed by Dr Roberto Schubert

Presentation

Continuous raise of PSA, now 10.6 ng/ml. DRE negative.

Patient Data

Age: 70
Gender: Male
MRI

T2 hypointense nodule at the base of the left prostate side lobe extending beyond the capsule. Involvement of left seminal bladder can't be excluded. Disseminated osteoblastic skeletal metastases.

Case Discussion

Although this advanced case might have been diagnosed by more traditional methods, it nicely demonstrates the MRI features of prostate cancer: bright on DWI, dark on ADC and T2, early contrast enhancement and early wash-out.
