Tail gut duplication cyst

Recent (2 mths) surgery for piles. USG to rule out submucosal abscess.

Patient Data

Age: about 70 yrs
Gender: Male

An anechoic lesion with a well-defined wall (1-2 mm thickness) is noted at 6 o'clock.

It abuts posterior anal canal wall.

Size: 51 x 30 x 28 mm.

The lesion is about 35 mm away from the anal verge.

No abscess / sinus tract is noted.

Case Discussion

Colonoscopic high frequency mini probe ultrasound was done by gastroenterologist who suggested the diagnosis of duplication cyst.

No other cyst was noted along rest of the colon.
