Rolled ankle last night, unable to walk

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Initial imaging

A very subtle lucency can be seen extending through the posterior facet of the talus this may be a fracture.


Follow up CT

Nondisplaced intra-articular fracture of the lateral posterior aspect of the talus, it extends to the posterior talocalcaneal joint.

Case Discussion

Fractures of the posterior aspect of the talus are often diagnosed as ankle sprains1, be sure to inspect the entirety of the talus before moving on.
