A group of calcifications in the lower inner quadrant of the right breast, fixed in orientation on both CC and MLO views, is consistent with dermal calcification and known as a tattoo sign.
Vascular calcifications are also observed as benign findings.
Case Discussion
The tattoo sign is a feature given to describe dermal calcifications seen on mammography and to prove the dermal location of the calcifications. It is helpful to obtain a tangential view or perform a tomosynthesis.
