Presentation

Temporomandibular joints pain and tenderness.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

¨    The right temporomandibular joint:
When the mouth was closed, the articular disc is displaced anteriorly and has an abnormal shape.
With mouth opening, the articular disc still displaced anteriorly without reduction.

¨    The left temporomandibular joint:
When the mouth was closed, the articular disc is displaced anteriorly and has an abnormal shape.
With mouth opening, the articular disc regains to its normal position between the articular eminence mandibular and the condyle.

Example of temporomandibular dysfunction due to abnormal relationship between the disc and the joint articular surfaces.

Bilateral internal derangement of the temporomandibular joints with anterior disc displacement without reduction on the right side and with a reduction on the left side.
