The MRI sequences demonstrate:
a large hematoma deep to the medial gastrocnemius and superficial to the soleus
partial tear of the medial gastrocnemius/soleus aponeurosis with disruption in contour along the deep aspect of the medial head of the gastrocnemius, with associated muscle edema
Case Discussion
The clinical presentation and MRI features of hematoma deep to medial gastrocnemius and superficial to the soleus muscle are highly suggestive of a tennis leg.
