Fluid is seen surrounding the tendon of flexor hallucis longus. It shows low signal on T1 and high signal on T2, well appreciated on fat suppressed images. There is also thickening and abnormal signal of plantar fascia at its calcaneal attachment denoting fasciitis.
Case Discussion
Tenosynovitis is an inflammation of the synovial lining of tendon sheath. It can be detected by ultrasonography or MRI by identifying abnormal fluid surrounding the tendon.
