Testicular rupture

Presentation

Struck by a car at low speed, slid under car and was dragged a short distance.

Patient Data

Age: 25
Gender: Male
Modality: Ultrasound
  • Herniation of the left testicular parenchyma measuring 2.9 x 2.3 x 1.7 cm through a defect in the tunica albuginea of the inferior pole
  • Reduced, but present, doppler flow into the herniated tissue compared to the normal testicular parenchyma
  • Multiple small (5-6 mm) left testicular intraparenchymal  haemorrhages
  • Small left hydrocoele

Case Discussion

The patient was taken to the operating theatre by the urology team, where there left testicular rupture and scrotum was explored, debrided and repaired.
