Testicular rupture

Presentation

Goalkeeper had a footballer's knee thrust into his groin.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

The right testicle (not shown here) is of normal size and echotexture and shows normal arterial flow.

The lower part of the left testicle is enlarged with a distorted border and there is discontinuity of the tunica albuginea - signs of testicular rupture.
Hypoechoic foci scattered whitin the testicular parenchyma, representing hematomas.
The echotexture of the testicle is heterogeneous, and while there is flow in the testicular cord, no flow is demonstrated in the testicle itself - suspicious for testicular infarction.
Moderate amount of anechoic fluid around the testicle - hematocele.
