Thalamic lacunar infarct

Burning sensation on the left side of his body, which had started 8 hours ago.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

Right thalamus shows a circumscribed hypointense area in T1, hyperintense in T2 & FLAIR sequences, with diffusion restriction.

No mass effect.

High signal foci in T2 and FLAIR sequences in the subcortical and periventricular white matter of both cerebral hemispheres indicative of prior microvascular ischemic events

Empty sella.

Mild mucosal thickening in the sphenoid sinuses and ethmoid air cells.
