Thigh foreign body (thorn)

Presentation

Fall off from bike; landed on his thigh on some branches. The patient pulled the branches out but had the feeling of a residual foreign body.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

On the ultrasound of the right thigh, there is a linear echogenic body that is 26 mm long, lying 16 mm deep to the surface of the skin.

Case Discussion

Given the high risk of infection due to the presence of a foreign body at the musculoskeletal level, after trauma, it is extremely important to have the ultrasound images that indicate the size and location of it, for proper surgical removal.
