Non-traumatic origin of right wrist palmar region pain for the last 3 days.
Patient Data
There is a presence of a bifid median nerve. Nerve divisions are separated by an artery which is flanked by veins. Arterial segment proximal to the carpal tunnel shows anechoic lumen with the flow. However, the artery shows echogenic distended lumen without flow in the carpal tunnel. Veins are compressible. There is no oedema of the median nerve. There is no flexure tenosynovitis or mass lesion in the carpal tunnel. Radial and ulnar arteries are normal.
Case Discussion
An adult male presented with the non-traumatic origin of right wrist palmar region pain for the last three days. Ultrasound shows thrombosis of a persistent median artery in the carpal tunnel along with the presence of bifid median nerve.
