Well-defined heterogeneously enhancing soft tissue mass with a small necrotic area in the anterior mediastinum. No calcification or fatty component is seen within. The lesion is abutting the costochondral cartilage anteriorly and ascending aorta and pulmonary trunk posteriorly.
No obvious bony erosion or chest wall involvement. No mediastinal lymphadenopathy or pericardial or pleural effusion.
No lung lesion was seen on lung window (not shown).
Case Discussion
CT features of a well-defined heterogeneously enhancing soft tissue mass of the anterior mediastinum in a patient with myasthenia most consistent with a thymoma that was confirmed by a CT-guided biopsy.
