Mediastinal mass on chest radiograph.

Patient Data

Age: 72
Gender: Male

Routine Chest X-Ray

Partially delineated mediastinal mass (anterior mediastinum) with regular borders, bulging the left upper mediastinal contour.


Chest CT

A solid enhancing mass is demonstrated in the anterior mediastinum involving partially the aortic arch and some supra-aortic branches. 

Case Discussion

This is the most common anterior mediastinal tumour in adults, usually detected between the sixth and seventh decades of life. 

Most thymomas are asymptomatic. 

This case was reported back by the requesting clinician as a thymoma.
