Presentation
Recurrent thyroglossal duct cyst surgeries. Presented with one month of sinus skin opening discharge with a local bulge and skin redness.
Patient Data
Cutaneous opening related to sinus tract is noted at the left side of the neck inferior to the level of hyoid bone and left submandibular gland. It is opposite the left ala of the thyroid cartilage. The sinus tract admits tortuous course till a point just inferior to the hyoid bone at midline which corresponds to part of the course of thyroglossal duct. The sinus tract is surrounded by fat stranding.
Case Discussion
This case has history of multiple surgeries with incomplete excision of a thyroglossal duct cyst. Thyroglossal sinus tract is one of the complications of surgery if remnants of thyroglossal duct remain with resultant secretions and inflammation of the tract. Treatment, in this case, requires excision of the whole length of the tract to the hyoid bone.
