Case contributed by Dr Maulik S Patel

Recurrent discharge from mid line neck region - 6 months. On examination, local bulge with skin redness.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Site of discharge is located in mid line, below level of hyoid bone.

There is hypoechoic tract like area in subcutaneous plane as well as deep to platysma. It extends cranially towards hyoid bone and probably reaches up to it. Approximate size - 18 x 14 x 5 mm.

There is no cystic area / calcification. There are few flow signals in lesion.

Case Discussion

Surgical exploration was done.  Methiline blue was injected in tract, which passed cranial to hyoid bone and to deeper level. Whole length of tract along with hyoid bone were excised.
