Presentation

Post motor vehicle accident with dysphagia, globus and left neck swelling.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female

Angiogram (Neck)

CTA neck demonstrates a transection of the left superior pole of the thyroid gland with no evidence of active bleeding of the left superior thyroid artery.

There is a hematoma in the left pretrachael space extending to superior mediastinum with mass effect on trachea and esophagus causing both to deviate to the right.

Case Discussion

Thyroid gland injury is rare, especially in the setting of blunt trauma.
