Tibial plateau fracture

Cycling accident, left knee pain.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years old
Gender: Male

Lipoheamarthris is present on the lateral projection. On the AP projection, there is a subtle lateral tibial plateau fracture, with minimal depression. 

Case Discussion

Lipoheamotartiois can be detected best via a horizontal beam knee projection, it is important to request a shoot through lateral knee in the acute setting to assure you have the best chance at distinguishing occult fractures 1.
