Motorcycle accident 4 days ago.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
mri

There is a depressed fracture of the lateral tibial plateau, and associated bone marrow edema, with joint effusion.

Note medial meniscal tear (posterior horn) grade 2a according to the MRI grading system for meniscal signal intensity.

No associated lateral meniscal or ligamentous injury was seen.

Case Discussion

Case of lateral tibial plateau fracture type II according to Schatzker classification, which is considered the most common fracture type of tibial plateau.

CT is very helpful to detect the extent of the bony injury and facilitates orthopedic intervention. MRI is superior to CT in the assessment of the associated soft tissue injuries around the joint.
