Jumped off a wall. Sore right knee. Able to weight bear.

Patient Data

Age: 30
Gender: Male

Large lipohemarthrosis. No definite fracture is seen.


Small impacted fracture of the posterolateral tibial plateau with lipohemarthrosis.

Case Discussion

Lipohemarthrosis is a specific but not sensitive indicator of intra-articular fracture of the knee. The presence of one should always prompt a thorough search for a fracture.
