Tibial plateau fracture in a below-knee amputation

The amputated margin of the proximal tibia and fibula are unremarkable. Moderate knee joint effusion. Mildly impacted fracture of the lateral tibial plateau extending into the tibial spine. The bones are diffusely osteopenic. Vascular calcification and surgical clips noted.
Case Discussion
The bones are osteopenic due to altered weight-bearing, which predisposes to fracture even with minimal trauma.
